Mlynicka and Furkotska valley
- Region: High Tatras
- Trail: Štrbské pleso – waterfall Skok – Bystrá lávka – Furkotska valley – cottage Solisko – Štrbské pleso
- Lenght: 15 km, 8 hours
- Ascent: 959 m
Difficult whole day hike through two valleys, Mlynická and Furkotská. Last ascent into the seddle Bystra lavka is the most difficult part secured with chains. We can expect traversing on the steep snow fields even in summer.
Places of interest:
Waterfall Skok (1740 m) – Waterfall in Mlynická valley falling from a 25 meters high stone terrace. Its flow is 880 liters per second.
Bystrá lávka (2300 m) – A saddle between Mlynická and Furkotská valley. It is a great spot with beautiful views into both valleys.
Vyšné Wahlenbergovo pleso (2157) – one of the most highly placed Tatra mountains tarns, which is frozen most of the year.
Kriváň
- Region: High Tatras
- Trail: Tri Studničky – pod Kriváňom – Kriváň – Jamské tarn – Tri Studničky
- Lenght: 15 km, 6 hours
- Ascent: 1354 m
Difficult whole day alpine hike with hard ascent and descent.
Places of interest:
Kriváň (2494 m) – peak placed in western part of High Tatras, which is a symbol of Slovakia and offers beautiful views at Western, High and Low Tatras mountains.
Krivánske Zelené pleso (2013 m) – green coloured glacier lake in Važecká valley covering area of 5 hectares.
Jamské pleso (1447 m) – glacier lake situated in dwarf pines area.
Popradské pleso
- Region: High Tatras
- Trail: Štrbské pleso – Popradské pleso – Symbolic cementery – Štrbské pleso
- Lenght: 12 km, 3,5 hours
- Ascent: 270 m
Easy half-day hike.
Places of interest:
Popradské pleso (1494 m) – mountain tarn covering area of 6,88 hectares and it is 17 m deep. It is situated in Mengusovská valley
Symbolic cementer (1523 m) – memorial place devoted to people, who died in Tatras mountains. It is more than 160 tablets and 50 wooden crosses here.
Batizovské pleso
- Region: High Tatras
- Trail:Štrbské pleso – Popradské pleso – saddle Ostrva – Batizovské pleso – Vyšné Hágy
- Lenght: 20 km, 6 hours
- Ascent: 841 m
Moderate half-day hike with difficult ascent to saddle Ostrva.
Places of interest:
Popradské pleso (1494 m) – mountain tarn covering area of 6,88 hectares and it is 17 m deep. It is situated in Mengusovská valley
Batizovské pleso (1884 m) – covering area of 3,48 hectares and 12 m deep is the only bigger tarn in Batizovska valley
Batizovská valley - typical glacier U shaped valley, which is a genetic resource of relict and endemic fauna and flora.
Gerlachovský peak (2655 m) – highest peak in Slovakia and also highest peak of whole Carpathian mountain range.
Studenovodské waterfalls
- Region: High Tatras
- Trail: Starý Smokovec – Hrebienok – Rainerova cottage – Zamkovského cottage – Starý Smokovec
- Lenght: 11 km, 3,5 hours
- Ascent: 565 m
Easy half-day hike.
Places of interest:
Rainerova cottage (1301 m) – oldest touristic cottage in Tatras, built around 1863. Nowadays an exposition of mountaineering, porting and skiing tools is placed here.
Obrovský waterfall (1330 m) – Small Coldwater stream waterfall 20 meters high.
Coldwater stream waterfall – a part of Coldwater stream from confluence of Small and Great Coldwater stream down to Bilikova cottage. In this part the stream is flowing through a terrain break creating cascades and waterfalls.
Jahňací peak
- Region: High Tatras
- Trail: Biela voda – Chata pri Zelenom plese – Jahňací štít - Chata pri Zelenom plese - Biela voda
- Lenght: 22 km, 10 hours
- Ascent: 1345 m
Difficult whole day alpine hike. Technically more difficult is the final ascent at the top.
Places of interest:
Zelené pleso (1551 m) – one of the most beautiful tarns in Tatras. It covers area of 1,77 hectares and it is 4,5 meters deep. At the banks of the lake stands a cottage.
Jastrabia veža (2137 m) – one of the most beautiful rocky towers in Tatras. Difference in elevation between the top and Zelene pleso is nearly 600 meters.
Jahňací štít (2230 m) – easternmost peak of High Tatras with breathtaking views at Belianske Tatry ridge
Passing Kopské saddle
- Region: High Tatras
- Trail: Tatranská Javorina – chata pod Muráňom – Kopské sedlo – Veľké Biele pleso – Chata Plesnivec – Tatranská Kotlina
- Lenght: 20 km, 7 hours
- Ascent: 990 m
Moderate whole day hike with relatively big ascent.
Places of interest:
Zadné Meďodoly – border valley between High and Belianske Tatry
Havran (2152 m) – highest peak of the Belianske Tatry, which is inaccessible for tourists. There are several karst formations In its limestone system. The best-known are the Tristarska cave and Raven abyss 45 meters deep.
Kopské sedlo (1750 m) – is dividing the granite massif of High Tatras of the limestone mainly Belianske Tatry. A smuggler trail from Poland led here In the past.
Suchá Belá
- Region: Slovenský raj
- Trail: Podlesok – Suchá belá – Pod Vtáčim hrbom – Kláštorisko - Podlesok
- Lenght: 15 km, 5 hours
- Ascent: 409 m
Relatively difficult circular hike. Exposed parts in the gorge are secured by wooden and iron ladders, chains and catwalks.
Places of interest:
Suchá Belá – its name (Dry white stream) comes from the fact that the stream is vanishing in the lower part of the gorge and the trough is usually dry.
Misové vodopády – nicest part of the gorge created by waterfalls shaping whirlpool pots washed out by falling water
Kláštorisko (770 m) – the only touristic center situated inside national park. It is located on the narrow plateau between two gorges, Prielom Hornádu and Malý Kyseľ. A ruin of Carthusian monastery can be found here.
Veľký Sokol gorge
- Region: Slovenský Raj
- Trail: Píla – Veľký Sokol – Rothova roklina – Glacká cesta – Malá poľana – Palc – Píla
- Lenght: 17 km, 5 hours
- Ascent: 575 m
Difficult circular 17 km long hike with exposed ascent through the gorge, which is secured by wooden and iron ladders, chains and catwalks.
Places of interest:
Veľký Sokol – Big Falcon gorge is impressive especially because of the 300 meters high cliff of the Glac plateau.
Stone gate – in this part opposite slopes of the gorge near to a distance lesser than one meter.
Rothova roklina – this gorge is creating the last part of Veľký Sokol, and it is one of the most beautiful gorges in Slovak paradise national park.
Prielom Hornádu
- Region: Slovenský raj
- Trail: Čingov – Tomášovský výhľad – Letanovský mlyn – Kláštorská roklina – Kláštorisko – Biely potok – Čingov
- Lenght: 17 km, 6 hodín
- Ascent: 280 m
Moderate circular hike. Enhanced carefulness is required at exposed parts in Prielom Hornádu and Kláštorská gorge.
Places of interest:
Tomášovský výhľad (667 m) – the terrace of the Tomášovský výhľad is providing an unique view at the lower part of Prielom Hornadu and at sunny days a beautiful view at the High Tatras too.
Kláštorisko (770 m) – the only touristic center situated inside national park. It is located on the narrow plateau between two gorges, Prielom Hornádu and Malý Kyseľ. A ruin of Carthusian monastery can be found here.
